Angelique Kidjo dedicated her fourth Grammy award to Burna Boy at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.
Burna Boy and Angelique Kidjo had both been nominated in the category for ‘World Best Music Album’ at the 2020 Grammys. However, Angelique picked up the award and proceeded to dedicate it to Burna Boy.
She said, “This is for Burna Boy! Burna Boy is among those young artists that come from Africa that is changing the way our continent is perceived and the way African music has been the bedrock of every music.”
Angelique and Burna Boy had already worked together on “Different”, a song from his ‘African Giant’ album. Burna also sampled her song, “We We” on one of the biggest singles from the album, “Anybody”.
Congratulations to Angelique Kidjo on her big win and congratulations to Burna Boy for an impressive outing. Here’s to more madness this year!
