Rae urges Rangers to sign player reportedly on Celtic’s radar - originally posted on Sportslens.com
Alex Rae has suggested to The Scottish Sun that he would like Rangers to sign reported Celtic target David Turnbull in the summer transfer window.
The former Rangers midfielder has outlined why Turnbull would be a good addition to manager Steven Gerrard’s side.
Last month, The Scottish Sun claimed that Turnbull remains on the radar of Celtic despite his failed move to the Hoops in the summer of 2019 due to a medical problem.
Rae told The Scottish Sun about Turnbull: “Obviously last season was a write-off for him but when you take him on his performances from his opening season really, he scored 16 goals in 34 appearances, it’s very good.”
Stats
Turnbull has made just two appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Motherwell so far this season, both as substitutes, according to WhoScored.
The top flight of Scottish football is suspended at the moment due to the global health crisis, and it remains to be seen when the campaign gets back underway.
Good signing for Rangers?
Turnbull is a very good and promising young midfielder who was superb for Motherwell before the long-term injury struck.
It remains to be seen if Motherwell sell the Scotland Under-21 international this summer, and if the player himself will be open to switching clubs after only just recovering from a long-term injury.
Rangers are as many as 13 points behind second-placed and bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic in second place in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment, and they have a game in hand.
