Song: Emenike’s Arrival Will boost West Ham

West Ham United midfielder Alex Song is confident Emmanuel Emenike's arrival at the club will help the Hammers achieve their objectives this season in the English Premier League.

West Ham who take on Aston Villa on Tuesday night are currently sixth on the EPL log and Song thinks the bullish forward can bring a different dimension to the team's play.

"It is great for us to have a player like this and I am very happy that he has signed for the club and can help us achieve what we want this season," Song told the club's website on Emenike's strength when he faced him in his days at Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League in 2013.

"He is very strong and very quick and it is good to have players like him who can make a difference.

"I played against him three-years ago when I was playing centre-back for Barcelona. He was so strong and I was asking 'who is this guy'. He was so strong.

Meanwhile, West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has revealed that Emenike's deal was a tortuous process for the club to complete.

"It took two weeks of tortuous negotiations and hard work by myself and our club secretary Andrew Pincher to get the player to the club," he told the club's website.

"It was one of the most difficult deals we have ever done, as we were dealing with two clubs not one.

"I would publicly like to thank Andrew, as he really is an unsung hero of the club, for all his hard work on this transfer, all the other transfers we have done in the last few years and the dozens we tried to do and failed with," he told the club website.

But he is believes that Emenike, who has scored goals wherever he has played, represents good value for money – and is set to hit the ground running.

"We hope he will bring goals," he added. "Our manager knows him from Turkey and Russia and says he is a very good player. He is very fast – and you can never have enough goals or pace in any team."

The deal – which brings Emenike to the Boleyn Ground for the remainder of the season – includes an option to make the contract permanent upon completion, according to Sullivan. That potential fee is thought to be in the region of €11million.
