GUNMEN have abducted an aide to the Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, Captain Henry Ungbuku (retd), in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Ungbuku is the senior special adviser on Aviation to the governor.
He was kidnapped yesterday morning in front of his church, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) (Light House Parish), Iwofe in Rumuolumuni community, in Obio/ Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Investigation revealed that the armed men laid siege to the church and struck immediately they sighted Ungbuku driving out of the premises.
A source close to the family of the victim said the gunmen shot sporadically to scare away worshippers.
The source, who did not want her name mentioned, further alleged that the kidnappers also riddled the driver’s side with bullets, but the victim survived by the whiskers, before they dragged him out into their waiting operational vehicle and zoomed off.
Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Ahmad Muhammad, was unable to confirm the incident as at the time of filing the report.
