English Championship side Cardiff City are hoping to beat other
interested parties, in the race to sign 23 year old Nigeria forward
Sammy Ameobi.
His contract runs out with Newcastle on Tuesday, after failing to agree a new deal at St James' Park but, he is expected to sign a new deal before heading out on loan.
Cardiff can offer the 23-year-old regular Championship football and are among the leading contenders to snap up the England’s under-21 international. West Brom, Crystal Palace, Wolves and Everton have all been with Ameobi but, none of them followed up with a firm offer.
Spanish club Real Sociedad, with former Everton boss David Moyes is in charge, which were also thought to be considering an offer.
Ameobi has been at Newcastle since 2008 but is yet to deliver on his potential however, last season he gave a glimpse of his abilities scoring twice from 25 games.
