Phil Hay claims what Bielsa has instructed his staff & Leeds stance if the season can't be completed - originally posted on Sportslens.com
While leagues in Belgium, Netherlands, and France have been cancelled, in England they are stuck in limbo.
A theory of resolving English leagues via points-per-game metrics has been proposed but the popular opinion remains that the season should be finished when it is appropriate to do so.
According to Phil Hay of The Athletic, Leeds United are concentrating on the best-case scenario. The Whites want the season to resume when it feels safe to restart.
Leeds squad will return from holiday in 10 days’ time and are sticking to May 16 as the day when training at Thorp Arch will resume. Meanwhile, Marcelo Bielsa being Marcelo Bielsa, he has instructed his staff to concentrate on productive activities and not waste time during the lockdown.
He has told the staff to consider it as the start of a short pre-season, and he has urged them to study Europe’s six big leagues — the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1, the Bundesliga and the Championship – for new ideas and fresh knowledge.
Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion are the top two teams in the Championship at the moment, and they are likely to get promoted if the season cannot be completed.
Hay claims that legal action is seen as inevitable if the EFL moves to declare the 2019-20 campaign null and void, but Leeds are not actively seeking advice on that front at the moment. In fact, they will not do so unless the Premier League block their promotion.
