MTV Shuga: Alone Together is a new season of MTV Shuga that depicts the life of young Africans as they navigate the lockdown in their respective countries.
In episode six, Tobi is still trying to contact Leila, but she persistently ignores him.
The financial loss of cancelling the concert is still nagging at Tobi, so he calls Vector to talk about the possibility of still holding the concert.
Tobi has the ‘bright’ idea that they can still hold the concert and manage the financial loss if they make it a more intimate event. He told Vector about his plan to find a smaller venue, host fewer guests, but sell more expensive tickets.
As he was explaining the precautions that would be taken to prevent spreading coronavirus, Vector cuts him off and lets Tobi know that it’s an irresponsible idea.
Vector understands the disappointment and financial loss that Tobi is experiencing with the cancellation of the concert, but he says that he expected better of Tobi. The coronavirus is highly contagious and it would only take one infected person to spread to several others in such an intimate setting.
Episode six also brings us some much needed comic relief, as we see Wasiu again. This time, he is peddling ‘essential items’ like toilet paper and hand sanitisers on his Instagram Live. We can’t blame him, he’s only trying to make some money.
Wasiu gets frustrated when a would-be customer complains about the price of his goods. He bursts into a rant about how difficult it was to buy the products and how he bought the products with money he should have used to buy his drugs.
He is still ranting when he hears a knock on his door and rushes to hide. But it’s his landlord knocking and hiding is futile because there’s a lockdown and where else would he be?
Wasiu is still owing rent and his landlord will go to any lengths to get his money.
Poor Wasiu.
