7 Nollywood TV Best Friends We Absolutely Love

No one can ever do wrong with having great friends around. Great friendships are what help us to keep going. We have seen some of the best friendships on television in the past years and these are seven TV ‘besties’ we absolutely love:

1. Aki and Pawpaw: They are without a doubt the ultimate best friends in Nollywood. Osita Iheme (Pawpaw) and Chinedu Ikedieze (Aki) always had each other’s backs in movies where they appeared as friends. Even when they were paired as brothers, they still acted like best friends. For many years their friendship was constant and movies like Aki na Ukwa, 2 Rats and Johnbull My Son made them fan favourites.

2. Tiwa and Didi: The friendship between Tiwa and Didi in Skinny Girl In Transit would make you jealous of those people who have the realest friends. Tiwalade, played by Abimbola Craig and Didi, played by Bisola Aiyeola are the kind of friends that tell each other nothing but the truth. They push each other to be better and are always available and willing to lend support in tough times.

3. Toyo and Jenifa: They were a complicated pair in Jenifa’s Diary. Jenifa, played by Funke Akindele is a razz village girl with an abysmal command of the English language. While Toyo, played by Juliana Oloyede, was a city girl. Yet, they stood by each other despite the crazy decisions, fights, and a desire to be the biggest girls in town.

4. Tayo and Lanre: Tayo (Efa Iwara) and Lanre (Daniel Etim-Effiong) from The Men’s Club have the sweetest bromance ever. They are a part of a bigger group of friends but their bond is stronger. They give each other good advice and are always their lives are crashing down – both physically and materially.

5. Yemisi and Dunni: These two from The Wedding Party had an adorable friendship. Yemisi (played by Somkele Iyamah) was ready to go to war for her friend. And it was also clear that Dunni (played by Adesua Etomi-Wellington) cared about her opinion. They were there for each other through the first and second wedding parties and their love is inspiring.

6. Tunde and Sunkanmi: In Phases, Tunde (Tomike Adeoye) and Sunkanmi, (Tosin Ibitoye) showed how friends of the opposite sex should always hold each other down. Unlike most male and female best friends on TV, they have zero sexual tension and just genuinely care for each other. Tunde makes it her goal to help her friend lose his virginity while looking out for him. On the other hand, Sunkanmi stands by her when she finds out that her fiance is a cheat. They always have the best interests of each other at heart.

7. Chike and Grace: Probably the deepest friendship on this list. Grace (Kehinde Bankole) and Chike (Adesua Etomi-Wellington) from The Set-Up risked their lives for each other at different points. Chike who is the fiercest of the two starts to help Grace fight her battles from secondary school till they are older. Grace repays the kindness by risking possible death to help her escape being framed. At the end of the day, they prove that sacrificial friendships exist and we all want that.
