Toolz And Gbemi Dazzle At Their Exclusive Media Event

Tolu Oniru, also known as Toolz and Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi has launched the second season of their critically acclaimed show, “Off Air With Gbemi & Toolz” with an exclusive media event on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at the Civic Center, Victoria Island.

Wearing a sparkling gold dress by Sheye Oladejo and flawless makeup by Andre Joan, Toolz tells us what fans can expect from the new season of their show along with Gbemi who dazzles in her baby pink kimono dress from Lady Beelionaire Luxury and her beautiful makeup by Atike By Demi.

At the launch, the pair who have received acclaim for their show, talk about how they started the show, as they take us through a quick rundown of the decision that comes ten years after working together. Toolz says, “This whole thing, just I think, we talked about it but we didn’t do it and I was just like, let’s do it… The handover on Beat 99.9 FM was one of the most fun parts of my day. So, I knew that a lot of people enjoyed it as well and we really thought that this is something that we could put out there and it has been mad.” Gbemi also adds that “People were even pushing that we have our own radio show on the Beat, maybe that she will join my show or I will join her show, and we’ll just continue. Eventually, we just decided, you know what, let’s do a show, and the rest is history.”

They tell us that they were initially worried about backlash from the show but their opinions have since changed. Gbemi says, “I’ve never cared what people say, that’s just me. I’m just like if you think that, it’s your business. If you talk too much, I block you. It’s simple now. I just feel like that’s being in prison – thinking about what people will say, so I just do.”

Answering a question about what topics they wouldn’t address and what boundaries they aren’t willing to cross, Toolz says, “We are quite careful about talking about people’s personal life. So if you are really keeping stuff private, if you are not the type that floods social media, I just try being respectful of that because that’s the same respect that I would want as well.”

They also talk about product placement and advertising opportunities on the show for brands and Gbemi says, “We have different branding opportunities; from feature segments, to scrolling messages, to ad pop-ups, to studio product displays. Whatever, it is you want us to do, we’ll do it. So basically, there are branding opportunities and branding benefits.”

Rounding things off, Ebuka speaks about what the audience could expect from the second season of  “Off Air With Gbemi and Toolz”. He says, “they are going to get even more uncensored. No holds barred.” Gbemi also adds, “listeners or viewers should expect more of us exploring various topics. We will have some guests, not a lot because we did a poll and most people prefer to just hear us banter than have a guest. So, they should watch out for more interesting topics. We might have some people coming on the show but the story that they have to share is so serious that they may have to wear a disguise or something. It is definitely going to be an exciting ride!”

Season two of “Off Air With Gbemi and Toolz” premieres on February 13, 2020 on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcast. See more photos from the event below:
