To celebrate the company’s 18th Anniversary, popular writer and digital strategist, Adman, Chidi Chikere, took to Twitter to remind us of some of the funniest, swoon-in-envy-at, thought-provoking MTN adverts that Nigeria has ever seen. And truly, the adverts reminded us of more fun and simpler times. *sigh*

“Step out onto your balcony, I want to give you a gift that is as priceless as you are.” Who drops that kind of line?! Ground for don scatta! Lmao. Who remembers that MTN Nigeria advert that had young Nigerian guys feeling like the sun was a gift to dash all the babes?

 

  1. Femi Branch Waltzed With His Babe Across Two Cities:

The second in the thread was this heart-stopping advert. Nigerian actor, Femi Branch, dropped that rich baritone and danced around the room with his partner across two cities, while they gisted on the phone. We go love o! 

  1. Which ‘NO’ Don’t You Understand:

Like Chidi, who tweets from the @Chydee account explained, this ad in this time of ‘wokeness’ might have caused wahala. But at that time, we were just gingered by the guy’s ‘motivation’.

We all gasped when the lovable producer and musician, Cobhamns Asuquo, walked off the ledge in the 4GLTE MTN advert.
