Adekunle Gold has dropped a new single along with a new video titled ‘Kelegbe Megbe’. The sound, just as Adekunle is known for, is intensely African.
It is a perfect fusion of modern sound with the African sound, particularly paying attention to the voices of the women in the background that just takes you back to the pre-colonial Yoruba village.
The song itself, ‘Kelegbe Megbe’ translates in English as ‘know your level’. Adekunle says that the song is a reminder that God has honored him with the best and he refuses to dumb down his gift as “I get my vibe, Kelegbe Megbe. Let everyone else know their level.”.
The video which was shot by Clarence Peters is filled with vibrant attires in Ankara, chiefly caps and is set on a beach. This jazzy sound is world’s away from the other sounds from Adekunle Gold throughout this year.
Whether or not, he will be sticking to this new sound from Kelegbe Megbe is left to be seen. However, it is clear that Adekunle is not afraid to chart his own artistic territory.
