While we rejoice that Nigeria has finally made it to the round of 16 for the first time in 20 years, it is also important to know what to expect for the rest of the Women’s World Cup.
Going forward, here are the fixtures for the Last-16 round:
Saturday, June 22: Germany vs. Nigeria, 4:30 p.m.
Saturday, June 22: Norway vs. Australia, 8 p.m.
Sunday, June 23: England vs. Cameroon, 4:30 p.m.
Sunday, June 23: France vs. Brazil, 8 p.m.
Monday, June 24: Spain vs. the United States, 5 p.m.
Monday, June 24: Sweden vs. Canada, 8 p.m.
Tuesday, June 25: Italy vs. China, 5 p.m.

It seems that the team to beat, based on group stage games are the United States of America. They won all of their games in group F, knocking off both Thailand and Chile from the competition. Across all of their games, they gathered 18 goals, after winning Chile with 13 goals to 0.
One of the most interesting matches to look out for in the Women’s World Cup will be the one between France and Brazil on Sunday. Although France had the highest points in their group, they were not invincible and Brazil has proven to be a worthy competitor. The match is expected to be very competitive and fun to watch.
We are also looking forward to Cameroon’s match against England as it can go any way. The most expected result is that England will win the match as they also ended at the top of their group with 9 points and 5 goals. There could always be a surprise where Cameroon wins or there is a draw that leads to a penalty.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons are going to have to pull a miraculous win against Germany as they played beautifully in the group stage, leading their group with 9 points and 6 goals, compared to Nigeria’s 3 points and 2 goals.
Considering that this is football and anything is possible, it would be interesting to see how all of these games play out. Tell us your predictions and analysis in the comment section below.
