Lagos Promises “December To Remember” At One Lagos Fiesta 2018



If past editions are anything to go by, residents of Lagos are in for an exciting end of the year as the state government has announced the countdown to the 2018 edition of One Lagos Fiesta.

The creative concert series is the first of its kind on the African continent, not only by the number of days it will hold but also by the fact that it will hold in five locations across the state, simultaneously.

 

From Agege to Badagry, Epe, Ikorodu and Victoria Island; Lagos residents will have the opportunity to attend the concert for free in any of the locations that they live in, from December 24 to 31 2018: eight consecutive days of fun music and dance.

In addition to the several musical artistes that will be on stage, the Lagos Grows Talent Competition where talented youngsters are spotted makes a return. Last year, 13 old Idris Ishola won the first prize of N1.5 million. The dance group Dream Catchers that became viral stars and were celebrated world over- actually were discovered at Lagos Grows Talent.

However, the biggest prize this year is the brand new car that will be won by one lucky Lagosian through the raffle draw. Unlike any other raffle draw, this is open only to Lagosians who have their permanent voters’ card (PVC).

Present at the press conference were the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture Mr Steve Ayorinde who was accompanied by other top government officials. In his words, the state government’s dedication to the initiative is not far removed from its creed to provide entertainment for its citizenry as well as attract revenue from local and foreign investors.

“Lagos prides itself as the vibrant seat of tourism to attract foreign investors towards making Lagos Africa’s model city. The One Lagos Fiesta platform will continue to promote economic development and ample opportunity to upcoming artistes a voice to be heard.”

 

He also added that:  “Festivities will include the children’s corner from 12 pm – 6 pm to children with games and cultural performances free of charge There will be different stage plays and different performances.”

Also in attendance were musicians Adewale Ayuba, Saheed Osupa, Humblesmith, Teni Entertainer, Mr P, Mr Real, Slimcase and a host of others. One Lagos Fiesta will kick off on Christmas Eve and climax in a spectacular show at the Eko Atlantic City on New Year’s Eve.
