According to reports from Yorkshire Evening Post, West Bromwich Albion are stepping up efforts to sign Swansea City defender Kyle Bartley in the summer transfer window.

Swansea City have dropped down to the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League last season. The Swans are reluctant to lose Bartley, but the report from BBC suggests that the Baggies are in talks with the club already and want to sign him as quickly as possible.

Leeds United have been heavily linked with a move for Bartley in the early stages of the transfer window.

Bartley, who made a strong impact for Leeds during the 2016-17 season on loan, reportedly expressed his desire to take up a permanent switch to Elland Road but the interest from the Yorkshire club faded in the last month following the arrival of Marcelo Bielsa.

He was identified as one of Leeds’s top priority targets prior to Bielsa’s arrival, but now West Brom are in strong position to sign him.
