StreetRemembers: Nigerians remember Fela twenty years after his death

Late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti may have died twenty years ago, but his spirit breathes on the streets. His fans, both young and old have fond memories of the musician, activist and the man they refer to as ‘prophet’.

NET TV took to the street to ask music lovers what they miss most about the departed legend. A young fan who works at the Kalakuta Museum expressed his adoration for Fela thus: ‘Fela was our hero. Even till now we pray to him daily when we wake up’.

Also a middle aged woman named Ngozi who says she was once a dancer with Fela’s Egypt 80 band reminisced by singing Teach Don’t Teach Me Nonsense.
