Ajax Amsterdam have agreed on a deal with Chelsea to sign the highly talented young striker Bertrand Traore on a season-long loan.

According to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, the 20-year-old will head to Netherlands on loan, and the move is as good as done.

The move doesn’t come as a surprise as Chelsea have strengthened their forward option this summer by signing Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi from Marseille. The youngster, who established himself as a useful back-up option last season, would have naturally fallen behind Diego Costa, Batshuayi and Loic Remy in the pecking orders.

Ajax are currently managed by Peter Bosz and the former Vitesse manager wasted no time in signing a player he knows very well. In fact, it was under his guidance that Traore developed into a high-scoring centre-forward (he scored 24 goals in 67 games so far in his career) during his time at Vitesse (20 goals in 51 appearances for the Dutch club). Therefore, a move to Ajax is perfect for the Burkina Faso international.

Traore’s departure frees up a spot in the Chelsea striker rank and it remains to be seen whether Remy will be allowed to continue at the club or will the Blues make a big money move for Romelu Lukaku.
