Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 90th birthday on April 21 at Windsor Castle, England, with thousands of people including the president of US, Barack Obama and his wife Michelle present.

It was four years before the ‘Giant of Africa’ gained independence, and she visited many states, including Kaduna, Lagos, Ibadan, and Enugu.
She met with former Oba of Lagos – Adeniji-Adele II, former Emir of Kano- Muhammadu Sanusi, several government ministers and then-Archbishop of West Africa, James Horstead.
She boarded a plane bound for London from Nigeria on February 17, 1956.
In 2003, Queen Elizabeth II and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip made their first visit since the country won its independence from British rule, during Olusegun Obasanjo’s regime to address Commonwealth Summit.
