The player’s father and the Swiss club’s president have confirmed the move. Apparently Burkart was unhappy with his situation at Zurich and has already decided to move to Old Trafford this summer.
The club stopped playing Burkart in the youth matches and therefore the player no longer wishes to stay there.
Burkart’s father has been quoted in Swiss newspaper Blick. The Switzerland U16 international will join Manchester United’s academy at the end of this season.
Nishan’s father Stefan Burkart has also criticised FC Zurich president Ancillo Canepa.
He said: “We have decided to leave the club in the summer. Nishan switches to Manchester United.”
“This reaction by Mr Canepa has disappointed us. We would have liked a more dignified exit. It makes me feel as if he is offended. He could indeed be proud.”
“He has not got many 16-year-olds with more than a dozen requests from top foreign clubs. He just has different ideas, such is business.”
“It has affected my son. Now, however, he no longer suffers. He is looking forward to Man United.”
Zurich president Canepa also confirmed the move and said that the club is already planning forward and since the player is no longer staying at Zurich, they will not use him in the remaining games this season.
He said: “Our U16 player Nishan Burkart’s family have decided to move their son to Manchester United.
“Therefore we decided not to use the player. Here we are concerned with the squad planning for next season. We want the place already to make a player available who will play next season, but Nishan continues to participate in team training.”Manchester United are looking to overhaul their academy setup this summer and Burkart’s addition will be a major plus.
Manchester United are looking to overhaul their academy setup this summer and Burkart’s addition will be a major plus. The talented striker was being monitored by several other European clubs and will improve the pool of young talent already at Carrington.
Earlier this season, Manchester United also agreed on a deal to sign the Dutch winger Tahith Chong.
Ajax striker Zamani is also a target for the Red Devils. It is apparent that the Premier League giants are desperate to stockpile the best talents from around the world. Perhaps it is their way of securing a sustainable domination of English football over the next few years.
Meanwhile, in other news, Jose Mourinho has apparently agreed to a 3-year deal to become the next Manchester United manager.
This time, it is the German newspaper Bild who are claiming that the Portuguese has agreed to a deal and will replace Louis Van Gaal.
According to the report, Mourinho has signed a contract until 2019 and the Manchester outfit are yet to announce the move.
The former Chelsea manager was sacked in December following a poor start with the Blues and is will now take charge of Manchester United next season. Mourinho is a major fan favourite at Stamford Bridge and the Chelsea fans will not be very happy with the move.
Bild are also claiming that Mourinho will now target Zlatan Ibrahimovic as his priority signing at Manchester United now.
Mourinho is a world class manager and has been linked with Manchester United for a few years now. If the report from Bild is true, then the Old Trafford outfit have got themselves a fantastic manager for next season.
