Manchester United have been linked with a few defenders over the last few weeks and Borussia Dortmund star Mats Hummels is the latest name to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Recently the German international confirmed that he is considering a summer move away from Dortmund and it seems that the Old Trafford outfit are interested in him according to the German media.

During his time at Bayern Munich, Louis Van Gaal tried to keep Hummels at the Allianz Arena and even wanted to sort out a new deal for the highly-rated centre-back. Despite holding talks with the player back then, the Dutchman was unsuccessful and wants to sign Hummels for Manchester United now.

The likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich are also interested in the German defender.

SportBild claims that Chelsea are monitoring the Dortmund star’s situation as well and could make a move if he is available during the summer.

Hummels is one the best centre-backs in Europe right now and would be a stunning addition to any side in world football. Furthermore, Manchester United also have the resources to land the German.

Meanwhile, in other news, Sporting midfielder Joao Mario has indicated that he would prefer a move to Manchester United.

Although he chose not to mention the club directly, he said he prefers a move to England when asked about interest from Atletico Madrid and Manchester United. He also said that he wants to play abroad as he believes that he can learn a lot more and become a better player that way.

Joao Mario’s contract with Sporting expires in 2020 and any club looking to sign him this summer will have to meet his release clause, which is around 60 million Euros.

It is highly unlikely that any club will spend that much on the midfielder and maybe Sporting will negotiate a lower fee in the summer if the player forces a move.
