Liverpool travel to Germany for the first leg of the Europa League quarter finals and Jurgen Klopp will be hoping for some good luck on his return to the Westfalenstadion.
The Germans are firm favourites to win the competition this year and will provide a tremendous challenge for Liverpool. Dortmund have been sublime going forward and coming up against Liverpool’s fragile back four, it could get ugly for English side.
Tuchel’s side had no problems in tearing the best defence in England apart in the previous round. Tottenham were not only beaten comprehensively, they were humiliated home and away. Liverpool will be desperate to avoid a similar fate.
Although Liverpool have done well against attacking teams, they will need to work on their defence if they want a chance of getting to the semi finals. The likes of Aubameyang, Reus and Mkhitaryan have been electric in the Europa so far and will take some stopping.
Team News
Apart from Christian Benteke, Danny Ings and Joe Gomez, Jurgen Klopp will have a fully fit Liverpool squad to choose from.
Brazilian attacker Roberto Firmino missed the 1-1 draw against Tottenham at Anfield last week and is expected to feature against Borussia Dortmund.
Emre Can has picked up an automatic suspension after the accumulation of a few yellow cards, but that will apply to the Premier League games only.
Divock Origi was a late substitute against Tottenham and is fit to start here.
Thomas Tuchel will be without two of his key players – Ilkay Gundogan and Neven Subotic.
