Manchester United transfer details for 25-year-old La Liga striker revealed

Manchester United transfer details for 25-year-old La Liga striker revealed - originally posted on Soccerlens.com

In a glittering career of over two decades, Sir Alex Ferguson was involved in some great transfer deals for Manchester United.

Some of his best signings for United included players like Roy Keane, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo…the list can go on and on. May be we can add David de Gea to that list as well.

However, the legendary manager also got wrong with some of the signings he made, and one of them was Bebe, who joined the Red Devils from Vitória de Guimarães for a reported fee of £7.4m.

In his four seasons at the club, he has only managed two league games for the Red Devils, and spent the majority of the time away on loan moves. Put it simply, he turned out to be a major flop for United.

Football Leaks, a popular website, has published a document which is claimed to be the contract given to Bébé on joining United in August 2010.

The bonus details have been revealed in the document which states that United players would have split £2.5m for winning the Premier League, a £5.25m payment for landing the Champions League trophy, £1m for an FA Cup triumph and £500,000 for lifting the League Cup – a potential total of £9.25m.

As per the contract, the bonus scheme was effective from the 2009-10 campaign. The 2009-10 season wasn’t the most productive one for United, as they finished second in the Premier League, lost to Leeds in the third round of the FA Cup, and were eliminated by Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals. The Red Devils won the League Cup which resulted in a £2.25m aggregate bonus.

United, however, won the league and reached the finals of the Champions League in Bebe’s final year at Old Trafford. Under the scheme, the players would have received £5.25m in bonuses, divided and shared among the players based on appearances in the competitions.

Bebe, 25, is currently under contract with Benfica, and he has been plying his trade in Spain on loan with Rayo Vallecano, where he scored just one goal in six appearances.
