EMINENT businessman and former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Kalu, has described Gregory University, Uturu in Abia State as an outstanding citadel of learning.
The business mogul made this known during a private visit to the founder and Chancellor of the tertiary institution, Chief Greg Ibe, on Saturday.
Kalu, who acknowledged the importance of education in national development, said the chancellor of the university has demonstrated selflessness and patriotism through the establishment of the tertiary institution.
He said: “Education remains the greatest asset you can give a child. Empowerment of the people through knowledge and skills acquisition is key to national growth and development.
“I sincerely salute the spirit of the chancellor for siting the university in Abia State.
“We are proud that individuals are complementing government efforts in the development of the Nigerian educational sector.”
Kalu seized the opportunity to recall his free education scheme during his tenure as Abia governor and added that privileged personalities in Nigeria should emulate Ibe’s passion for human capital development.
The former governor was received by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Juliet Elu and other top management team of the university.
