Kidnappers free Eagles’ player’s wife

Fegor-Ogude

Super Eagles midfielder Fegor Ogude can now heave a sigh of relief as his wife Memunat has been released by her abductors.
Memunat was released late on Sunday after six days in captivity.
She was whisked away in her car around 8pm on Monday when she went out with her kids. The children however, were not taken along with her.
Dream Team media officer, Timi Ebikagboro, who is also based in Delta State where the incident happened, confirmed the release of the wife of the Amkar Perm of Russia player.
“To God be the glory, the wife of SE player Fegor Ogude, Memunat has been released, she was released minutes ago, and is now with her family,” he wrote on twitter on Sunday night.
There were no details if a ransom was paid, but it is the tradition of kidnappers to take something, especially cash, in return for the release of an abductor.
Fegor Ogude was selected for the Nigerian national team in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Madagascar.
He was called up to Nigeria’s 23-man squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and won the trophy with the Super Eagles in 2013.
He was also selected for Nigeria’s squad at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Use CHAN to revive Nigeria football, Peters tells Oliseh

The President of Real Sapphire Football Academy. Frank Peters has urged the Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh to use the opportunity being provided by CHAN to revive the declining fortunes of Nigeria football.
Speaking on the recent CAF Awards where Nigeria and its footballers were conspicuously missing, he said going by the quality of talents available in Nigeria, the country is supposed to be dominating football competitions in Africa.
He called on the NFF and the coach of the Super Eagles to make use of the coming CHAN competition to expose new talents to the world.
According to him, talents that would revive the nation’s football abound in the football academies that dots the country.
He said that what is lacking is the capacity to harness the talents and giving them the right exposure.
Peters also called on the NFF to take the football academies in the country serious as that is the pillar of the other countries success in football.
