The Police in Kano have announced the arrest of four suspects following their involvement in the sales and distribution of adulterated engine oil across states in the North.
The suspects are Sadi Mohammed of Yankaba Gidan Alaramma Itace Quarters by Kwanar Dakata, Musa Idris of Zangon Dakata , Musa Yahaya of Layin Baban Iya in Tudun Murtala Quarters and Idris Adama of Layin Ibrahim Kiyawa in Boka Hotoro.
Kano State Police Commissioner, Alhaji Muhammad Musa Katsina, disclosed that the Police recovered a total of 16,979 liters of the adulterated fuel products from the suspects, adding that the suspects were arrested in the act by his operatives.
He revealed that the suspects had confessed to being in the ugly trade for years, noting that they admitted dominating the market in the north and in other parts of the country over the years.
“The dirty trick of these hoodlums is that they buy original brand new containers, carefully unseal them to avoid detection, clone the label of the known original product and fill it with the adulterated engine oil before selling it to the public.
He maintained that these adulterated engine oil products have led to incalculable damage to the engines of motor vehicles, tricycles, generators and other appliances in the state while advising the members of the public to be careful when buying these products.
He also asked the public to continue to support the police by providing them with useful tips that would lead to the arrest of criminals.
