Nigerian soccer fans last night came hard on Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh as they blamed him for the early exit of Nigeria in the Rwanda 2016 African soccer championship (CHAN 2016).
Some of the fans who took to twitter described as “embarrassing” the failure of Oliseh to take the team beyond the group stage.
The fans who posted their comments in Goal.com pointed out that Keshi two years ago won bronze while Oliseh “African Guardiola” could not beat Guinea to progress.
A fan Shina Oludare tweeted: “…The Super Eagles crashed out of the African Nations Championship with ‘African Guardiola’ in charge.”
Dada Leye on his part stated: “They crucified, condemned and insulted Keshi…the man won bronze. African Pep Guardiola “Oliseh” no comot for group. Okay o! #GUINGA.”
“It is a very embarrassing way to leave a tournament we were tipped to win after thrashing Niger in the first game. #GUINGA #Wolexis.com,” Wolexis stated.
Ex-international, Yisa Shofoluwe told Daily Sunsports that Eagles early exit was a shame.
“Guinea beating us is terrible. Given the way the team started, one had expected them to scale the first round hurdle with ease. This is not good for our football,” Shofoluwe stated.
It is recalled that Shofoluwe who in his heyday with the Super Eagles was nick named “Dean of defence” had condemned the CHAN Eagles defence line even in victory over Niger. Shofoluwe noted that the defenders were not in good shape.
The Eagles lost 0-1 to Guinea to finish third in Group C crashing out of the tournament in the process.
Tunisia went goalwire in the other match of the group beating Niger 5-0 to finish on top.
