The UK’s heaviest man Carl Thompson has died in his Dover flat at the aged of 33, the Express understands.

The fire brigade, police and a private ambulance have all been spotted outside his Dofras Place flat this afternoon.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at 10:38am on 21 June, to a property in Dofras Place, Dover following reports that a man in his 30s had died.

“Officers do not believe the death to be suspicious.

“The coroner will be notified.”

In April, the Express exclusively revealed Mr Thompson was the UK’s heaviest man.

Then, the 65 stone man said: “I need to lose 45 stone or doctors say I will die.”

Support for the Arsenal fan was overwhelming and his story made national news.

He said: “It’s absolutely fantastic, I’m so happy with all the support.

“It’s inspiring me to fight the weight even harder, I can do it with Dover at my back!”

Many people offered to help him lose the weight, including Rosie McMonagle, 57, who was cooking him healthy meals.

He had also turned to hypnotherapy in a desperate bid to diet.

Persistent depression and an ingrained eating disorder were at the root of his extreme gorging.

A vicious cycle of unhappiness with his weight and comfort eating saw him pile on the pounds in his youth.

After the loss of his 54-year-old mother to brain cancer in 2012 his weight exploded, nearly doubling from 35 stone to his current size.
