Sunshine Stars unaware of Kunle Odunlami's move to Raja Casablanca

The management of the Akure Gunners has expressed shock over the defender’s proposed move to the Moroccan team insisting the player absconded from camp
As Kunle Odunlami inches nearer to signing a contract with Moroccan side Raja Casablanca, Goal's investigations have revealed that the defender's employers Sunshine Stars were unaware of the move. On Monday, the Moroccan giants stated on their official site that the former First Bank player had arrived in the north African nation claiming that he would be given a contract if he passes his medical examination on Tuesday.
“Kunle Odunlami visited Casablanca today to [undergo] the first medical examinations prior to his engagement with Raja. The Nigerian international who plays as a central defender will undergo the medical examination under the supervision of Professor Arssi Tomorrow (Tuesday), before meeting with representatives of the Club to sign the contract. If successful [at the] medical test and signing the contract, the player will also be present at pre-season with his new teammates.”
Shortly after Goal broke the news that the Nigeria international passed his medical ahead of his deal with the Moroccan side, a top management member of Sunshine Stars expressed shock about the development saying the 25-year-old player 'absconded' from the team as the Akure Gunners are not aware.
“This is very strange. How come? In fact no one is aware of this development,” said the official.
“On our way to Enugu for our league game against Rangers, he pleaded to alight in Delta State insisting he was not fit for the game.
“Despite several pleas to let him stay because of his key role for that game, he refused and we had to let him go hoping to meet him in Akure to prepare for our home game against Akwa United on Wednesday,” the official said.
When asked if the management will be thinking of any sanction on the player, he hinted that the club's big wigs would meet as soon as possible to take necessary action.
“The management will meet on this because it is now glaring that Odunlami absconded. For now he is on his own," he added.
“We will intimate you on the outcome but I am still very shocked because no one is aware of any deal with Raja Cascablanca."

In the same vein, media officer Wahab Bankole confirmed that the club is unaware of the impending move of Odunlami to the Botola Pro side claiming he was still with the team on Saturday.
Once Odunlami’s move has been rubber-stamped, he will team up with compatriot Ighodaro Osaguona who has been a hit with the Moroccan side thus far.
