“are you The Promised One? Or we’ve boarded a one chance Danfo?”
If it is true President Muhammadu Buhari denied Vice President Yemi
Osinbajo entry into his first security meeting, it is an ominous signal
of bad things to come. By virtue of Osinbajo’s position, he, more than
any other person after Buhari is entitled to attend that meeting.
Yesterday, it was a failure to publicly declare his assets that
signposted Buhari’s first mistake in office. A day before, there was
presidential ball/dinner/party after a Boko Haram attack in which many
Nigerians lost their lives. Yet, the celebration went on in Abuja. A few
days ago, like former President Goodluck Jonathan, it was to Chad and
Niger that Buhari headed ‘in search of solution to Boko Haram’ instead
of hitting the ground running with his own solution.
Fuel scarcity persists. Most filling stations still sell above the
normal pump price. Security is yet to take a sign of improving. As at
yesterday, 82 Nigerians have been massacred by Boko Haram in just one
week of Buhari’s being in office. As St. John asked, we are asking this
morning, “are you The Promised One? Or we’ve boarded a one chance
Danfo?”
