Obuah welcomes probe into alleged Rivers looting

The Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Felix Obuah, has lauded Governor Nyesom Wike for the probe to recover funds and facilities allegedly misappropriated and looted by the Rotimi Amaechi’s administration. He described such a move as courageous.
The PDP chairman observed that the steps taken by the Governor in setting up a Probe Panel on the Rotimi Amaechi-led administration were commendable and in the right direction.
Obuah said the exercise was not meant to witch-hunt any former government official but to correct the alleged anomaly and ensure proper use of state resources, as well as instill sanity in governance and public service in the state.
“The Governor is focused and on track. We have confidence in the steps taken so far, and believe that they will yield positive results. The Party commends the Governor for exercising his powers as enshrined in section 2(1) of the Commissions of Inquiry Law of Rivers State (Cap. 30, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999),” Obuah stated.
“It is our hope therefore, that members of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry will do a thorough work in uncovering the monumental frauds Amaechi and his aides committed in the State during their tyrannical regime. Doing that will rekindle the hope of our people,” Obua added.
Obuah said the PDP again expressed grave concerns over the poor state of affairs and deplorable conditions of state -owned institutions and other facilities in the state, including the empty treasury and alleged massive looting of Government House by the last administration.
“The current government will not renege in its determination in restoring the pride of the state,” he said.
