D day- for Sevens team
Lagos - Sunday August 24 is D-Day for Sevens teams across Nigeria as they will be battling it out for places at the upcoming national Sevens tournament.
Sixteen teams will take part in the Independence Rugby 7s event, which is CMB Building Maintenance and Investment Co. Ltd, on October 11-12, but only 11 places are up for grabs as five international teams from Europe and Africa have also entered.
Teams will thus go head-to-head for spots in the October tournament this weekend and only five teams from the South West league, three from the Northern League and one each from South-South, South-East and FCT leagues will make it through.
Last year's winners Police Machines and runner-up Cowrie RFC, both from the South West, have already received automatic qualification meaning Lagos RFC, Racing RFC, Gosar RFC, Hawkster Athletic, Eco II and Royal Stallions of Ilorin will fight for the final three spots in that league.
